Hotel Majapahit Surabaya
Rich in history, the Majapahit Hotel is a national landmark. It was opened in 1910 as Hotel Oranje and in colonial times was the first address where influential colonial officials, wealthy merchants, shipowners and plantation owners stayed. The hotel was founded by the Sarkies family, who also owned the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, the Oriental Hotel in Penang and The Strand Hotel in Yangon/Myanmar.
The hotel is located in the heart of Surabaya, Indonesia's second largest city and a renowned trading port since the 15th century. The hotel was extensively restored in the years 2009-2013 and shines in new splendor. With classic colonial architecture, modern comforts and manicured gardens, it is a luxury hotel and an oasis of calm in bustling Surabaya.
