How to get to Flores & Komodo Island - Flights to Flores
Flores Island is located in South-East Asia and part of country Indonesia, the largest archipelago on the Earth consisting of more than 17,000 islands between Asia and Australia. The airports on Flores island are in Labuan Bajo/(Komodo) (LBJ) , Maumere (MOF), Ende (ENE), Larantuka (LKA) and in the inland of the island in Bajawa (BJW)) and Ruteng (RTG).
There are daily direct flights from Bali and Jakarta to Labuan Bajo/Komodo in the west of Flores Island. On certain days of the week, there are also direct flights from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Singapore to Labuan Bajo International Airport. Other airports on Flores are accessible via direct flights from Kupang (Timor) and Makassar (Sulawesi), or via Labuan Bajo (Komodo).
The main flights to Flores are with ➚Lion Air Group (Lion Air, Batik Air, Wings Air, SuperJet) and ➚Air Asia. But Garuda/Citylink and Sriwiyaja/Nam Air also serve some routes.
The airline tickets are often more expensive in high season (July/August/September) and during Ramadan. Last minute is difficult to estimate, you may have luck (especially in the low season) but you can also unnecessarily pay to much or all flights are fully booked especially to Labuan Bajo (Komodo) in high season.
Good to know !!!Since 14 June 2018 all Indonesian airlines are no longer on the so called "black list" of the EU. There is a well-developed network of domestic flight connections in Indonesia.

Don't underestimate the distances on Flores Island!
The road conditions in Flores are - apart from the bigger towns like Maumere, Ende, Bajawa and Ruteng - very modest. Only a mostly paved street connects the East and the West of the island and it partly winds through the mountainous regions. Landslides and broken,damaged bridges are not uncommon during and after the time of the monsoons. A trip with a privatly chartered car (that makes you independent from the schedules of the busses) from Maumere to Labuan Bajo in the West takes at least two days
The local public transport consists of busses and Bemos. The busses are often incredibly jam-packed, especially on the market-days. Minibusses are often quite comfortable.
